St Andrew's Day Special: Five of the best Scottish sports women: No 2, Laura Muir
As it is St Andrews Day, we thought we'd count down five of the best Scottish sports women from north of Hadrian's Wall.
The first athlete was Arsenal midfielder Kim Little and now we are moving on to one of the nation's best ever middle-distance runners.
Laura Muir
Laura Muir is an Inverness-born runner who specialises in the 800m, 1500m and 500m.
She has won two Diamond League events, the first of which came in 2016 when she broke Kelly Holmes' British record for the 1500m by running a 3:57:49.
At the Rio Olympic Games she finished an impressive seventh despite only being in her early 20s.
In 2018, she won the 1500m European title at the Olympic Stadium in London, beating Poland's Sofia Ennaoui and fellow Brit Laura Weightman to gold.
She is a two-time 2018 World Indoor Championship medalist, and came fifth at this year's World Athletics Championships in the 1500m in Doha.
Still a relatively young prospect at 26, the one feather missing from Muir's cap remains a medal at the World Athletics Championships or Olympic Games.
Hopefully, that will change next summer in Tokyo.
