National Women's Soccer League name Lisa Baird as new commissioner
The National Women's Soccer League has named Lisa Baird as its new commissioner.
Her role will be to oversee all operations of the league as well as working with their media channels to increase revenue and make the league accessible globally.
Baird joins the NWSL after a year as the Chief Marketing Officer for the New York Public Radio.
Speaking about her new job, she said: She said: “As a long-time fan of the game and the players, I am excited to be joining the league at this time. The NWSL has tremendous positive momentum and a clear path towards growth.”
NWSL Executive Committee Chair Steve Malik added: “We are thrilled to name Lisa as the Commissioner of the NWSL.
“Her impressive background at the forefront of sports and commercial business for some of the most iconic properties worldwide will be instrumental to the future success and growth of the league.”
Baird will start her new role on March 10, with the league kicking off on April 18.
