Tyson Fury's third fight with Deontay Wilder is likely to happen in October, according to promoter Frank Warren.

'The Gypsy King' avenged his draw with the 'Bronze Bomber' in their first fight by stopping him in dominant fashion in Las Vegas last month.

Immediately after the fight, Wilder triggered the rematch clause in his contract, but it is now thought he will have to wait until October, rather than the first date touted which was July 18.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Warren said: “The 18th will not happen. The commission in Nevada has said ‘no boxing’ for the foreseeable future and Las Vegas has closed down all the casinos – it’s like a ghost town there.

“No-one knows what’s happening day to day, all we can do is hope for the best and push it back as far as possible, so October looks like the date for the fight.

“A fight between them behind closed doors just won’t happen – these guys are too big names to be fighting behind closed doors.”

In the UK, all boxing sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control has been suspended until April 30, but that postponement is likely to be extended if coronavirus continues to spread.

And in the United States, all boxing shows have been postponed or cancelled as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise rapidly.
