Jos Buttler auctions iconic Cricket World Cup-winning shirt in aid of coronavirus relief
Jos Buttler is auctioning the shirt he wore during England's historic World Cup final victory over New Zealand in an effort to raise funds to help fight coronavirus.
Wicket-keeper Buttler sealed the victory as he received the ball from Jason Roy and broke the stumps to run out Martin Guptill and seal the super-over and thus the England victory.
The shirt, worn by the 29-year-old during that trophy winning moment, has since been signed by all of the England team.
He has now put that shirt on eBay with money going towards two specialist lung and heart centres that are aiding the battle against the deadly virus.
As of 08:00 on Wednesday, the highest bid was £65,900 and there are still six days left on the auction.
Buttler shared the auction on Twitter posting: "I'm going to be auctioning my World Cup final shirt to raise funds for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals charity.
"Last week they launched an emergency appeal to provide life-saving equipment to help those affected during the Covid-19 outbreak."
