Jodi Jones’ late penalty earns Notts County deserved point
Jodi Jones’ stoppage-time penalty earned Notts County a deserved 2-2 draw with Fleetwood at Meadow Lane.
Ryan Graydon had put the visitors ahead in the first half before Brendan Wiredu doubled the advantage shortly after the break.
But the hosts rallied and got themselves back into the game through Alassana Jatta before Jones converted from the spot six minutes into time added on.
Jones came close to giving County the early lead, as the winger tricked and turned to get a shot away but David Harrington saved.
It was Town who took the lead, though, as Graydon rose highest to nod home from a corner after 30 minutes.
Fleetwood doubled their advantage a minute into the second half when Graydon pulled the ball back for captain Wiredu to slot into the net.
The Magpies responded and were rewarded just before the hour when Dan Crawley played in Lewis Macari and his low cross was turned in by Jatta.
County’s dominance was rewarded in stoppage time when Nick Tsaroulla was tripped in the box and referee Darren Drysdale pointed to the spot, with Jones stepping up to convert and claim a richly-deserved point for the hosts.
