Breaking: World Snooker Championship becomes latest event postponed
The 2020 World Snooker Championship is the latest major sporting event to be hit by the coronavirus outbreak.
Players were due to kick off the event on April 18 as Judd Trump was hoping to defend his 2019 crown and become just the tenth player to win more than one world title.
But now organisers have confirmed that the event has been pushed back as they look to reschedule for a date in July or August.
World Snooker Tour chairman Barry Hearn said: "These are tough times for everyone but we are determined to get through it.
"Fans around the world - as well as the 144 players involved - are anxious to know if and when the World Championship will go ahead. I can assure everyone that we are doing all we can alongside our broadcasters, the venues and other partners to confirm new dates as soon as possible."
Earlier this week, the Tour Championship in Llandudno, which was due to begin on Tuesday, was pushed back to July 21.
