The Women’s Champions League is set to finish this season’s tournament in August.

UEFA will announce plans on Wednesday to play the remaining knock-out rounds in single-legs from August 21-30, according to the Telegraph.

The competition was suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic before it could reach the quarter-finals.

The last seven games are to be played in Spain with the hosting duties being shared between Bilbao and San Sebastian.

The league will most likely be played behind-closed-doors and, though a medical team has discussed how the players will return to competition safely, it has not yet been confirmed who will pay for testing.

The quarter-finals were due to take place on March 25, with the draw already having been made. 

Atletico Madrid are due to play Barcelona, Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain, Glasgow City take on Vfl Wolfsburg and current Champions League holders Lyon will play Bayern Munich.

Women’s tournaments around the world have been cancelled due to the pandemic.

England’s Women’s Super League was one such competition and the Football Association used a points per game system to calculate final placings.

Arsenal were placed third in the WSL table meaning they did not qualify for next year’s Champions League. Manchester City and Chelsea took the two spots available to English clubs.

However, the London-based club could still qualify for the tournament next year - all they have to do is win the trophy.
