WNBA’s No 1 pick Sabrina Ionescu out for a month after suffering ankle injury
WNBA’s No 1 draft pick Sabrina Ionescu is set to miss a month of the 2020 season after suffering an ankle injury.
The 22 year-old, who currently plays for New York Liberty, sprained her left ankle during Friday night’s loss against Atlanta Dream.
The rookie was sent to hospital and her X-ray showed no fracture, according to The Athletic.
Sources say she is expected to be out for a month as the WNBA gets underway after it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Liberty currently sit in fifth after losing their first three games and are set to play Phoenix Mercury on August 2.
The WNBA’s 2020 season games are all being held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
