West Ham United sign Australian international Mackenzie Arnold
West Ham United have announced the signing of Australian international Mackenzie Arnold on an undisclosed-length contract.
The 26 year-old goalkeeper comes from W-league club Brisbane Roar and is the first signing ahead of their Women’s Super League 2020/21 campaign.
She has also been named goalkeeper of the year in the W-League three times.
The shot-stopper, who has earned 24 caps for Australia, said: "I feel like this move has been something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time and I don’t think I could have ended up at a more perfect team.
“I’ve heard some really good things about the club and the incredible West Ham fans. I hope I can contribute to that and that West Ham will be somewhere I can call home for a long time to come.”
Head coach Matt Beard added: "Mackenzie has played at the top level in Australia and she knows the mentality it takes to get to tournament finals.
“She’s an excellent goalkeeper who is very brave and very good with her feet. She’s a good shot-stopper too.”
West Ham United finished eighth after the Football Association terminated the 2019/20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
