USA World Cup winner Carli Lloyd approached to play for NFL team
One of the USA's World Cup stars from the summer Carli Lloyd has been approached to kick for an NFL team.
The interest comes following a video the midfielder posted on her Twitter account that showed her scoring a field goal from 55 yards.
After the footage went viral, the 2015 World Player of the Year was then said to be the subject of enquiries from a number of National Football League outfits.
James Galanis, Lloyd's trainer, said: "One (team) was willing to put her on the roster.
"She was told [she could] play on Thursday."
He then told Fox Sports: "I don't want to say who it is [the team]. But she is playing Thursday with the national team, so that was the conflict."
Lloyd is in the squad for a soccer game against Portugal on Thursday as part of the team's victory tour.
However, if Lloyd was to eventually turn out for an NFL team she would become the first female to do so.
And when quizzed by Sports Illustrated as to whether that kind of history-making event interests her, she failed to conclusively state her intentions one way or the other.
Lloyd said: "I've definitely got some enquiries, I've definitely got people talking.
"Anything's possible but right now I'm strictly a soccer player and we'll see what the future holds."
