US soccer star Carli Lloyd believes she had coronavirus in February
US soccer star Carli Lloyd has said she believes she and her husband had the coronavirus in February.
In the time since then Lloyd, who has 289 caps for the US, has taken part in the SheBelieves Cup.
The USA won the tournament after beating Spain, England and Japan. Lloyd scored in her side's match against the Lionesses.
Lloyd tweeted: "Beginning to think my husband and I had the Coronavirus back in mid February. A sickness we have never felt before."
She then described her symptoms: "Achy, headache, shortness of breath, cough with mucus in lungs. I trained through it all.
"My husband was worse. For 4 days he couldn’t move off the couch. Incredibly achy with the same symptoms I had."
She then tweeted: "The day we played Mexico [8th February] to qualify for the Olympics I woke up with a sore throat and felt achy.
"Popped some Tylenol, rolled up the sleeves and powered through a 90 min game. After the game and for the next 5 days I was super sick."
She added: "But...We are both healthy and all good. Fully recovered. Just speculating that people could have this long before the testing came out and we knew exactly what it was."
She recently tweeted about feeling 'lost' while in self-isolation.
Lloyd is married to golfer Brian Hollins, the pair wed in 2016.
