US golfer Danielle Kang wins Drive on Championship as LPGA Tour returns
American golf star Danielle Kang narrowly won the Drive on Championship title by one shot in Ohio.
The 27 year-old finished on seven under with France's Celine Boutier a shot behind as the pair battled it out over 54 holes at the Inverness Club.
Australian Minjee Lee finished in third and was two strokes further back from Boutier on four under.
The event marked the return of the LPGA Tour after the coronavirus pandemic halted the 2020 season.
England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff was leading into the final day of the event but was unable to hold on for her first LPGA and finished fifth.
Kang now has four LPGA titles to her name. She took home the first at the 2017 Women's PGA Championship and won at the 2018 and 2019 event in Shanghai.
She said: "I worked really hard for the last seven months. I think just keeping patient and trusting all aspects of your golf brings it out in your game.
“You have got to respect the golf course. Even little putts I didn't take it for granted.”
The next event on the LPGA calendar is the Marathon Classic set to take place from August 6-9 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Ohio.
