Uncapped Sarah Glenn included in England cricket squad for Pakistan series

Sarah Glenn has been called up to the England women's cricket squad for the first time ahead of their limited-over series against Pakistan.

The 20-year-old leg-spinner caught the attention of selectors playing for Loughborough Lightning during their run to the semi finals in this year's Kia Super League.

Glenn took 11 wickets in the competition including impressive figures of three for 25 in an eight-wicket thrashing of Lancashire Thunder in August.

Among her victims was Indian star batter Harmanpreet Kaur, bowled for a golden duck.

Mady Villiers has held her place in the squad after taking two for 20 on her debut during England's victory in the third T20 of the Women's Ashes series in July.

Her inclusion means there is no space for Surrey Stars teammate Laura Marsh, while seamer Freya Davies returns to the squad for the first time since March.

Heather Knight will continue to captain the side as they head to Kuala Lumpur for six matches - three ODIs and three T20s - starting at the Kinrara Oval on December 9.

The ODI matches make up part of the ICC Women's Championship which ultimately offers a route to the 2021 World Cup.

Defending champions England have already secured their place in the competition but will be using this series as preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia in February.

Interim coach Ali Maiden will travel with the side after Mark Robinson left his position at the end of the summer.

Lisa Keightley will then take over as full-time coach in January.

Squad:

Heather Knight (C), Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, Kirstie Gordon, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Danni Wyatt
