UFC’s Paige VanZant sets sights on landing new fight after UFC 251 blow
UFC star Paige VanZant has revealed she’s ready to bounce back and fight again following her defeat to Amanda Ribas at UFC 251 earlier this month.
The 26 year-old had her last fight with UFC after being injured for nearly 18-months, but the result was not what she wanted.
But she is willing to put it behind her and is already looking at signing a new fight promotion deal.
In doing so she confirmed she will postpone surgery on her arm in order to get a deal signed.
She told MMA fighting: "I’m hoping to sign a new fight promotion with somebody and fight this year if I can.
"I want to fight as soon as possible. In my mind, I’m going to go ahead and delete that last fight and start over. I don’t know how long this negotiation stuff goes.
“I’m hoping quick, cause I definitely don’t have any injuries. I don’t even know if I got hit, so I’m ready to fight again.”
Coming off the back of her loss where Ribas dominated her from the opening bell and scored a first-round submission win, VanZant is determined to ‘show off’ how good she is.
She said: "For the first time in my life, I finally realised the losses definitely don’t define you.
“Maybe I did have to hit rock bottom. It’s just going to make my comeback story that much greater coming off a loss and an arm injury, and I have 10-plus years to fight and show off how good I am.”
