UFC’s Amanda Nunes says she is contemplating retirement after defending her featherweight title at UFC 250
UFC fighter Amanda Nunes has revealed she is contemplating retiring from the sport as she’s achieved everything she wanted to.
Nunes recently defended her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer in a bout she won by unanimous decision in UFC 250.
She told Brazilian TV show Esporte Espetacular: "Ah, I don’t know, I’ve achieved everything I wanted. I’m well, I can go on with my life, maybe a [take] new step, maybe find new talents, help some girls there…maybe be a coach, too.
“I’m in a moment that I can retire, you know, and I’m in a moment that I can fight. I’m fine. There’s nothing else to be done right now in the division.
“The Hall of Fame will come, for sure. My life going forward, if I do stop now, the UFC will give me every support I need to continue having my money and work.”
She also confirmed she is unlikely to fight again this year as her partner and fellow fighter Nina Ansaroff is due to give birth to the couple’s first baby in September.
Nunes has previously spoken about retirement, saying she was going to end her career after beating Holly Holm in July 2019.
However, she returned to the octagon just five months later to defend her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie last December.
