UFC boss Dana White confident Nate Diaz will fight again despite lengthy lay off
UFC boss Dana White remains confident Nate Diaz will fight again despite a sustained period of inactivity.
Diaz has gone quiet since being beaten by Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in November of last year.
The California-born fighter has fought just twice since losing to Conor McGregor in August 2016.
But White insists he still believes Diaz will return to the sport when he is ready.
Speaking to Yahoo Sports, he said: "Oh, definitely. Definitely. I think Nate will fight (in the UFC) again."
Diaz boasts a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 12 defeats from 32 fights.
His biggest victory came at UFC 196 in March 2016 when he shocked McGregor to win by second round submission.
But he has been plagued with inactivity since losing the rematch five months later and the defeat to Masvidal proved anti-climactic as it ended via a doctor’s stoppage.
Many UFC fans are still calling for a Diaz-McGregor trilogy bout as both men have one win over each other.
Diaz v McGregor II is the second biggest pay-per-view event in UFC history after McGregor v Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, a bout between Diaz and McGregor looks further away than ever after the Irishman announced his retirement from the sport last month.
