The partner of a mother-of-five who died after undergoing a suspected cosmetic procedure has thanked friends and family for their “beautiful messages”.

Alice Webb, 33, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Monday and died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Gloucestershire Police said Ms Webb became unwell after a “suspected cosmetic procedure” – reported to be a Brazilian bum lift – in Gloucester, and two people arrested on suspicion of manslaughter had been released on bail.

Her partner, Dane Knight, declined to comment at his home, but said in a tribute on social media: “Want to say a heartfelt thank you to all family and friends that were here for us at our time of need, including all of the kind messages sent to my children and myself.

“There was some very beautiful messages sent by some of your children that formed a start of a smile from the corner of my kids mouth.”

A friend of Ms Webb posted on social media: “This past 24 hours has been a dream I’ve so desperately wanted to wake up from.

“You were the best friend anyone could ever ask for I’m heartbroken that you had to grow your angel wings and become another guardian angel to watch over me, your family, the kids and Dane.

“I will forever love and miss you. It’s not goodbye just tada for now Amy. Life will never be the same again.”

The mother-of-five worked in the beauty industry and lived in the Wotton-under-Edge area of Gloucestershire with her family.

Friends of Ms Webb started a fundraising campaign for her family, but it has since been closed.

The fundraising campaign said she had undergone a Brazilian bum lift BBL procedure.

Campaigners have called for certain cosmetic procedures to be banned and said they were supporting 500 women who were “suffering” as a result.

“We launched a campaign in December 2023 calling upon the Government to take urgent action to ban these procedures,” Ashton Collins, director of Save Face, said.

“We made it absolutely clear that without urgent intervention someone would die.

“I am devasted by the news of Alice’s passing. It makes me incredibly sad and angry that Alice’s death could and should have been prevented.

“Liquid BBL procedures are a crisis waiting to happen. They are advertised on social media as ‘risk-free’, ‘cheaper’ alternatives to the surgical counterpart and that could not be further from the truth.

“We have supported over 500 women who have suffered complications because of these treatments, many of which have nearly died.

“Over 50% of the cases reported to us contracted sepsis and 39% needed corrective surgery.

“All of the procedures reported to us were carried out by non-healthcare practitioners who are carrying out incredibly dangerous procedures in unsterile environments.

“I would advise anyone considering one of these treatments to avoid them at all costs.

“The risks significantly outweigh any associated benefits.”

The two people who were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter have been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

“Police had been called by the ambulance service at around 11.35pm,” a Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said.

“An investigation, led by the major crime Investigation team, is ongoing.”
