Spurs’ Alex Morgan looking to get ‘much more’ match time in WSL
Alex Morgan made her-long awaited Tottenham debut against Reading and is ready for ‘much more’ match time.
Spurs drew 1-1 to see them remain in mid-table.
She said: “I’m hoping to get much more next match and the remaining matches of the year just to keep building but I think my fitness it’s getting back there it’s just going to take a little bit of time and obviously managing change of direction and sprints and I’ve just got to get minutes to get game fit.”
This was Morgan’s first match for more than a year, as she came off the bench in the 68th minute, six months after the birth of her daughter Charlie in May.
"I’m happy about that [getting on the pitch], obviously not too happy about the result but I just had to start to get some minutes and build from there so pretty happy this is a good starting point.
“I felt like there was definitely a lot more sprints than in training and I mean I’ll get used to it pretty quickly but once I came in it was more of a transition game. So less position oriented so I’m looking forward to getting into more of the game to settle in a little bit better.”
Spurs’ next game is against Bristol City in the WSL on November 14.
