Sheffield United have re-signed four players ahead on the 2020/21 Championship season.

Chloe Dixon, Becky Flaherty, Veatriki Sarri and Emily Batty have all committed their futures to the club.

Dixon joined United in 2018 from Sheffield FC. She has said she can only progress as a player at the club.

She said: "I had no doubts in where I wanted to be playing my football. I believe we have the capability to be going places and I also feel Sheffield United is the best place for me to progress as a player as I know the other players back me. I hope we can really compete this year."

While goalkeeper Flaherty arrived at United from Everton last summer.

She said: "I'm delighted to re-sign with Sheffield United. This is the perfect place for me to develop with fantastic coaches and a great squad. I'm really excited to further develop my game after picking up an injury that cut short my season.

"I've been working hard in lockdown to come back a better player and next season will be an exciting time for us as we look to better our performances from last season."

Sarri joined United in 2018.

She added: "I'm really happy to have signed a new contract with Sheffield United. I truly believe in this team and l can't wait to get back playing with the girls and to get this team where it deserves to be."

And keeper Batty signed for United last summer from Doncaster Bells.

She said: "I'm delighted to extend my stay at Sheffield United. I feel the coaching has helped me develop as a goalkeeper massively over the past year since first joining. I'm excited to learn more and improve further over the coming season and I feel that this club is the best place for me to be able to achieve that. 

"I've been working hard in lockdown and I'm eager to get back into training with the girls and hopefully we can go one better this season. I'm excited about the challenges ahead."

This comes after it was announced this week United’s manager Carla Ward would step down with immediate affect.

She steered United to a second place finish this season before it was cancelled due to the coronavirus.

It has not been announced who will be replacing her.
