Seth Rogen says ‘Pineapple Express’ sequel didn’t happen due to budget concerns
US actor Seth Rogen has revealed that there were talks of a ‘Pineapple Express’ sequel.
The 38 year-old was part of the popular comedy film in 2008 which brought in $101.6 million at the box office.
Despite a sequel being pitched, Rogan said on The Howard Stern Show that Sony were not interested at the time.
He said: "We tried to make one and thanks to the Sony hack you can actually find the email when Sony decided to kill the movie and not make it.
“It was something we were very open to several years ago, but Sony was not that interested in it.
“I think we probably wanted too much money,” adding, 'no one got paid anything' on the first movie.
In 2014 Sony Pictures were hacked and several confidential documents and upcoming unannounced movies were leaked.
Pineapple Express producer Judd Apatow wanted a $50 million budget for a second film but Sony wanted it to be cut by $5 million, according to The Daily Beast.
