Rugby league star Iosia Soliola shows brutal skull fracture X-ray after clash of heads during match
Rugby league player Iosia Soliola has updated fans on his condition after he clashed heads with another player during an Australian National Rugby League match.
Soliola, who plays for Canberra Raiders, was in a collision with St George Illawarra Dragons’ prop Blake Lawrie yesterday and was rushed to hospital.
The incident occurred as Lawrie had possession of the ball and Soliola attempted to tackle him. Lawrie stuck his arm out, which first connected with his face, and then the pair clashed heads.
X-ray results showed the 33 year-old has a facial fracture and the league have said he will undergo surgery soon.
He joked when sharing the image on Instagram saying ‘at least my teeth are in tact’.
Fellow league players wished him well on his post. Christian Lealiifano wrote: “Hope your ok man. Speedy recovery. Still got your modelling career intact”
While John Asiata commented: "Speedy recovery uso"
And Michael Cheekam said: "Speedy recovery my uso!"
He thanked everyone for their messages later on his story and said he was 'trying his best to smile'.
Raiders won the match 22-16 but the victory came with quite a few casualties. As well as Soliola, Emre Guler suffered an ankle injury and Elliott Whitehead sustained an eye injury.
The NRL got back underway on May 28 after a short suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
