Rapper Megan Thee Stallion reveals she was shot on Sunday and is ‘grateful to be alive’
US rapper Megan Thee Stallion has said she had to undergo surgery after being shot at the weekend.
The incident happened in the Hollywood Hills on Sunday and the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed rapper Tory Lanez, who was with Stallion, was arrested for concealing a weapon and was bailed. They also said another person was taken to hospital with a foot injury.
The rapper, whose real name is Megan Pete, took to Instagram yesterday to ‘set the record straight’ on reports.
She said: "On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.
“I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.
“I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”
And she captioned the post: "This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy."
A video posted by TMZ shows a woman, who they identify as Stallion, limping out of a car with a bloody foot.
She did not give details as to who shot her and representatives for the musician have not responded to requests for a statement.
She is best known for her tracks Savage and Hot Girl Summer.
Her nine-track album Suga contributed to her winning best female hip hop artist at the BET Awards last month.
