PSG reveal positive Covid test just 24 hours before Champions League quarter-final against Atalanta
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed a positive coronavirus test ahead of their Champions League quarter-final with Atalanta on Wednesday.
The club announced the news on their official Twitter account just 24 hours before they look to book their place in the final four of Europe’s elite competition.
The tweet said: "Tests have revealed that a player at the Paris Saint-Germain training centre has tested positive for COVID-19.
"In accordance with the health protocol in force, the player has been isolated from the rest of the group and other tests will be carried out soon.
"In agreement with the Versailles club (N3), the friendly match which was to take place against the U19 team was therefore cancelled."
Due to the wording of the tweet, it is presumed that the player who has tested positive is not a part of the first team.
And as PSG are already preparing in Lisbon having left France before the positive test, it is thought the outbreak does not effect the team’s preparations going into the Atalanta game.
Barcelona have also confirmed a positive coronavirus test from one of their players ahead of their tie against Bayern Munich.
And Atletico Madrid suffered a serious scare earlier this week when stars Angel Correa and Sime Vrsaljko tested positive.
