National Women’s Soccer League star Kaylyn Kyle has hit out at theUS sports media for overlooking the league’s return.
The NWSL is returning on June 27 for a month-long tournament dubbed the NWSL Challenge Cup. However, many media outlets have reported that the Men’s League Soccer will be the first league to return in North America - on July 8.
Kyle wrote on Twitter: "I’M SO CONFUSED.....why the hell is the @NWSL keep getting OVER LOOKED.... 1st professional league returning to America.
"One of the very few women’s league that HAVENT BEEN CANCELED... even tho their counterparts teams are resuming to play....
“And I also might add how do some people even have jobs in America in the sports media world when they don’t even know that the NWSL even exists… Do your job… You cover sports!!!!!!”
Kyle last played in the NWSL for Orlando Pride in 2016, she was released by the club before the 2017 season and has not signed with another club since.
She has not officially announced her retirement from club soccer but she did confirm her retirement from international duty with Canada in 2017.
She now regularly works as a pundit for BeIN Sports.
