Nick Kyrgios mocks US Open organisers saying he’ll ‘get his hazmat suit ready’ if they go ahead with tournament
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has said that he will have to pack his ‘hazmat suit’ to prepare for the two week compulsory quarantine following the US Open tournament.
The 25 year-old mocked organisers over his need to quarantine for the same period as the tournament when he returns to Australia.
He dubbed the US residents as ‘selfish’ for supporting the event as they would not have to undergo the same 14 day isolation.
"Smh [shaking my head] - people that live in the US of course are pushing the Open to go ahead," he wrote.
“Selfish I’ll get my hazmat suit ready for when I travel from Australia and then have to quarantine for 2 weeks on my return,” he added.
Organisers are expected to make a decision on the fate of the Grand Slam on Tuesday.
The two-week tournament is currently set to start on August 31 and will finish on September 13, just a week before the provisional start date for the rescheduled French Open.
