New South Park movie could be on the way more than 20 years after original
The creators of legendary animated comedy South Park could be set to release a second film more than 20 years after the original.
Writers Matt Stone and Trey Parker delivered the first movie, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, way back in 1999.
And now, after 23 seasons and more than 300 episodes of the show, a second feature film could be on the horizon.
Grant Gish, ViacomCBS Entertainment and Youth Group’s new senior vice president of adult animation, has spoken about his desire to work with Stone and Parker on some more ideas for potential movies.
"As long as you’re doing something new, and that could be anything from a new style to a new tone to a new voice coming from a specific writer, I think it can work," he told CNBC.
"An animation audience is looking for something unique. That’s what The Simpsons and South Park have famously done.
"So I want to try a little bit of everything, even though a lot of it will be targeted to the tried and true with brands people know."
Gish has a proven track record of helping to facilitate some of the best animated comedies being made as he has been involved in the likes of Bob’s Burgers and American Dad.
No comment from either Stone or Parker has yet been made.
