National Women's Soccer League targets end of June to start season
The National Women's Soccer League is planning to kick off at the end of June.
The original start date was April 18 but this has been postpone due to the coronavirus crisis.
The league's commissioner Lisa Baird said: "I’m really pleased to tell you that we have a general strategy in place. We’ve been just communicating with our players and we’re targeting for the end of June for our season to start.
"I say that with conviction and hope, but I don’t say that because I’m always going to tell you no matter what we do, we’re gonna adhere to the public health guidelines that are in place at the time.
"I don’t think that we can predict what they are, but our strategy is in place and we’ve looked at a number of different strategic alternatives with our ownership and that’s what we’re targeting," she told The Equalizer.
