Manchester United beat Glasgow City 4-0 in friendly warm-up match
Women’s Super League club Manchester United beat Glasgow City 4-0 in a warm-up match ahead of the upcoming season.
The familiar faces on United’s team were joined by new signings Ona Batlle and Ivana Fuso.
The scoring opened at Leigh Sports Village in the fourth minute through Ella Toone.
Leah Galton and Kirsty Hanson had great chances but City’s Lee Alexander kept them at bay.
Reds manager Casey Stoney made seven substitutions at half-time, among which was Jess Sigsworth who impressed immediately.
She doubled United’s lead in the 73rd minute and then scored again in the 80th.
And United weren’t finished there as Hanson’s patience paid off in the 88th to round off a good game for the WSL side.
The match acted as a warm-up to the upcoming season with the WSL aiming to restart on September 5.
City also needed game time as they will be jetting to Spain later this month to compete in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
They will play Vfl Wolfsburg in the knock-out round. The quarters, semis and final will take place from August 21-30.
