Legendary film maker Martin Scorsese to direct new Mike Tyson biopic
Iconic film maker Martin Scorsese will direct the upcoming Mike Tyson biopic starring Jamie Foxx.
The 77 year-old will take up the boxing movie exactly 50 years after he worked on the Robert De Niro film Raging Bull in 1980.
And Foxx is excited to show people the different facets of Tyson’s turbulent life and career.
Speaking on Showtime’s ‘All the Smoke’ show, he said: "Martin Scorsese, who hasn’t done a boxing film since Raging Bull, has agreed to take the helm.
"We want to show everybody evolves. Everybody comes from a good or bad place.
"I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey and the way we’ll place it."
Scorsese received critical acclaim for his four-hour epic ‘The Irishman’ in 2019, the 17th film he has received Academy Award nominations for.
Tyson recently hinted he was set to make a return to the ring for exhibition fights at the age of 53.
It comes 15 years after the American hung up his gloves following a defeat to Kevin McBride in June 2005.
He finished his professional career with a record of 50 wins and six defeats.
