Kim Jong Un’s wife seen for first time in a year at concert in Pyongyang alongside North Korean leader
Kim Jong’s Un wife has made her first public appearance in a year, ending speculation about her wellbeing.
Ri Sol Ju accompanied the North Korean leader on Wednesday at a concert on one of the country’s biggest holidays.
Photographs of the couple were released by the official ruling Worker’s Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun from the event to mark the birthday of Kim’s late father and former leader Kim Jong Il.
Ri had not been seen since January last year at an event for the Lunar New Year holiday, fuelling speculation over her health and potential pregnancy.
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) said on Tuesday that Ri appeared to have stepped back from outside engagements to avoid coronavirus infections.
North Korea has not confirmed any Covid-19 cases and nobody at the Mansudae Art Theatre in the capital of Pyongyang appeared to be wearing masks or maintaining social distancing measures.
