Jada Pinkett Smith admits relationship with rapper August Alsina to husband Will Smith on her chat show
Jada Pinkett Smith has finally revealed that she did have a relationship with rapper August Alsina.
Speaking to her husband Will Smith on her chat show Red Table Talk, she admitted the relationship took place while the pair were separated.
It comes after Alsina claimed last month that the pair had a relationship in the past and that Smith had given him his ‘blessing’.
Both Smith and Jada denied the claims, but she has now confessed she did ‘absolutely’ have a relationship with Alsina.
She said it developed in the summer four years ago and that she had met Alsina, who at the time was ‘really sick,' through their son Jaden.
Jada said: "It all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state.
“The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health. We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.”
Smith made it clear he was ‘done’ with her at the time, before asking her to continue.
She explained: “As time went on, I got into a different type of entanglement with August.”
In response to Alsina’s initial claims, she added: "The only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself.
“But what August was probably trying to communicate because I could see how he could see it as permission because we were separated amicably.”
Smith asked her to clarify what she meant by ‘entanglement’, to which she confirmed: “It was a relationship, absolutely.”
As the interview came to an end the pair fist-bumped and said a reference to a catchphrase in Will's Bad Boys franchise, ‘We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life.’
Smith and Jada married in 1997 and have two children, Jaden, 22 and Willow, 19.
