Holy Trinity Cricket Club Victoria have become the first club to hold a cricket Pride Cup in Australia.

The event was held in partnership with charity Proud2Play, who focus on increasing LGBTQA+ engagement in sport from grassroots to elite level.

A spokesman for the charity, Luke Major, said: “Holy Trinity was the perfect candidate for the first pride cup with the commitment to inclusion in many different areas. 

"This is just the first of many Cricket Pride Cups we hope to roll out in 2019 and the future."

The day kicked off with a women's game against the Darebin Falcons, who emerged victorious, claiming the women's T20 Pride Cup.

A field filled with players donning rainbow shirts made a stark contrast to cricket's usual strict white rules, but all players and coaches were strongly behind it.

Families were also entertained with activities and entertainment throughout the day, while the main focus remained on overall inclusivity.
