Glasgow City and Republic of Ireland player Clare Shine has said she’s ‘struggling and that’s okay’ after she went missing at the weekend.
The Scottish club tweeted yesterday they were concerned about her whereabouts and countless players, fans and clubs shared the post. City then tweeted she had been found last night.
Shine posted to Twitter to reassure fans last night. She wrote alongside a photo of her in a hospital gown: “Thank you everyone, I’m struggling and that’s okay. I’ll be back. Look after yourself.”
Many fans and footballers replied to her tweet.
Rangers and Scotland star Nicola Doherty wrote: “You got this brother.”
While Ireland and Arsenal player Katie McCabe said: “We’ve got you.”
And Birmingham City’s Abbi Grant wrote: “You’re so loved Clare, you’ve got this.”
The 25 year-old has previously spoken about mental health and urged people to seek help if they are struggling.
After the news broke that Shine had been found yesterday, the football community erupted in relief.
City tweeted the news last night and said: "We have reassuring information about Clare's whereabouts and she has assistance. Thank you to everyone who helped. You made such a difference. We will say more when we can."
And the Football Association of Ireland wrote: "We have received information that Clare Shine is getting assistance . Thank you to everyone who helped in raising awareness"
Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw also tweeted her happiness: "Clare has been found! Thank you to everyone who has supported the search!!!"
Shine made her international debut in 2015 and has made seven appearances for Ireland.
She originally signed for City in 2015 and spent two years there before returning to Cork. She then joined the Scottish club again in 2019.
