Glasgow City sign Krystyna Freda on loan deal
Glasgow City have signed Krystyna Freda on loan from Cypriot club Apollon Ladies ahead of their Champions League clash in August.
City will face Frauen Bundesliga champions Vfl Wolfsburg in the quarter-final of the European tournament.
US-born Freda has been the top scorer in Cyprus in all of the three seasons she has played there, scoring a total of 245 goals.
She has also scored 13 goals in the Champions League.
She said about joining City: “I am so excited to be joining Glasgow City to help them in the UWCL finals tournament.
"Glasgow is a strong, amazing team that has proven that they are one of the best teams in Europe and I feel honoured to be a part of this next challenge with them.”
And City manager Scott Booth added: “Krystyna is a stand out striker. We're all looking forward to having her in our squad for the loan period.
"She is a player we've competed against previously so we all know how dangerous she can be. It's great news that this time she'll be playing in Glasgow City's colours.”
This comes a day after City announced they had signed US defender Zaneta Wyne to bolster their squad for the Champions League.
The knock-out rounds of the competition are being held over one-leg in Spain from August 21-30 so it can be completed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
If City beat Wolfsburg, they will face either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the semi-final.
Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon have also made it to the knock-out rounds.
