Former world boxing champion Jane Couch is picking Andy Ruiz to beat Anthony Joshua again in their mouth-watering heavyweight rematch on Saturday.

The pair will square up in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia just six months after Ruiz shocked the world by beating Joshua in New York.

And despite many giving the Briton the benefit of the doubt that he simply had an off night, the UK's first ever licensed female boxer Couch sees things differently.

"You want AJ to do it because it's good for British boxing, but I can't see it," she says. "Even the body language of Joshua this week, he seems too relaxed.

"You never know, it's heavyweight boxing so it's probably whoever lands first. But I just think Ruiz has got his number."

Despite his recent loss, Joshua still comes into the fight as one of the biggest stars in the sport.

And while the pressure is a factor many are using to scupper the Watford man's chances, Couch is more of the opinion that their routes to the top may play a part.

She says: "He's got massive pressure going into the fight because he is the flagbearer. I don't know if that will affect him or not.

"They're just cut from a different cloth. Ruiz Jr is a Mexican that's probably had the hardest upbringing you could imagine to fight to get where he is. Whereas Anthony Joshua is the golden boy and just got given everything.

"So one's hungry and one's starving."

The Fleetwood-born former fighter is also sceptical of Joshua's victories leading up to the Ruiz defeat and believes that even if he is to come through the Mexican, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will prove too much.

"You look at Joshua's opponents in the past, they haven't been great," she says. "Even Klitschko was 40-years-old and past his best. So I'm just not convinced.

"That's a different level again (Fury and Wilder). Tyson Fury is on a different plain to the lot of them. Same with Wilder. Wilder is a terrible boxer, but if he hits you, you've had it, doesn't matter who you are."

Couch is not shy in coming forward to give her opinion, regardless of whether that is going against her fellow countryman.

And she is also honest about why, in her mind, the fight is taking place in the Middle East as opposed to the UK or US.

The decision to stage the event in Saudi Arabia has been criticised by many, including Amnesty International, because of the country's human rights record.

Initially, Joshua said a women's bout could feature on the card, however that never materialised.

It is something that Couch says did come as something of a curveball, but should not shock anyone who knows the business of boxing.

"I think it was a surprise to everyone, but boxing promoters will just go where the money is," she says.

"It must be life-changing money for them to have gone there because of the way women have to dress and the fact that they wouldn't be able to put a women's fight on the card.

"But they don't care about that. They just care about the money and what they're making on the night. They don't give a f*** whether there's a woman on the card, none of it. They're not interested one bit."
