Deanna Cooper leaves Chelsea at end of her contract
Chelsea defender Deanna Cooper has departed the Women’s Super League club as her contract has expired.
Cooper joined the Blues in 2017 from Championship club London Bees and she has made 29 appearances for Chelsea.
An anterior cruciate ligament injury in the 2017/18 season limited her involvement in that campaign.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: "To watch a player fulfil their dream, coming from the place she has, fighting to prove she deserves to be at this level, is one of the reasons I go to work as a coach.
"Her injuries made it difficult at a big club like ours to get back in the team on a regular basis, but what a valuable team member she has been, on and off the pitch.
“I’m sad to lose the person, but I’m excited to see the player that I know she can be.”
And Cooper tweeted: "Thank you to @chelseafcw for everything over the last 3 1/2 years! My teammates, staff and supporters I will never forget all you have done for me!
“It’s time for me to move on and continue to chase my dreams.”
