Danielle Kang wins back-to-back LPGA titles at Marathon Classic, with England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff in second
US golf star Danielle Kang has won her second consecutive LPGA Tour title at the Marathon Classic in Ohio.
Her victory comes after New Zealand’s Lydia Ko suffered two bogeys and a double-bogey on the last remaining holes at Highland Meadows Golf Club on Sunday.
Kang, 27, took advantage and hit birdies on the 13th and 14th holes and secured three-under 68 to claim victory.
England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff hit a four-under 67 and continued to impress before finishing in joint second with Ko.
Kang said of her victory: "It was a lot of up and downs going on.
“I made some little mistakes here and there, but I definitely answered with some birdies, which was good, and kept me in my momentum.”
Kang now has five LPGA titles to her name. She took home the first at the 2017 Women's PGA Championship, won the 2018 and 2019 event in Shanghai and sealed the Drive on Championship title earlier this month.
The next event on the LPGA Tour calendar is the Ladies Scottish Open on August 13-16.
