Coventry United sign former Aston Villa star Ashlee Brown
FA Women’s Championship club Coventry United have signed Ashlee Brown from Aston Villa ahead of next season.
Brown, who is currently out with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, played for Birmingham City before moving to Villa in 2016.
She said on Twitter: "Absolutely delighted to have signed for @CovUnitedLFC for the 20/21 season. I am extremely thankful and grateful for their commitment to support me through the end of my ACL rehab.
“Not too long left now! Cannot wait to get going, the comeback is officially in motion!"
Brown is leaving Villa just before their first season in the Women’s Super League as they gained promotion in the 2019/20 season in an impressive unbeaten campaign.
Both the Championship and WSL were cancelled in May and final placings were calculated in June on a points per game system which saw Villa promoted and Liverpool relegated from the WSL.
The Championship and WSL aim to start their next season on September 5.
