Chris Eubank Jr has made it clear he wants his next fight to be against Mexican pound-for-pound star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The 30 year-old Brit has fought just once since beating James DeGale 16 months ago and is therefore looking for the biggest fight possible in his next bout.

And while he has come unstuck in the past against domestic rivals Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves, Eubank believes he can be the man to end Canelo’s 12-fight unbeaten streak.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Canelo Alvarez, that's the No 1 fight that I want right now.

"I don't think anyone on the planet would make a better opponent for him. Most guys are going in there to run and survive, I'm going in there to destroy.

"I know I can beat him, so that's the fight I want. I definitely have got a strategy. I see the weaknesses. I see where he can be exposed.

"I'm not looking to survive, I'm taking the fight to him and I don't think he's ready for somebody like that."

Canelo is one of the biggest stars in boxing having lost just once in 56 fights - to Floyd Mayweather in 2013.

Saunders -  who beat Eubank by split decision in 2014 - had agreed a deal to fight Canelo in May before the coronavirus pandemic disrupted those plans.

And Eubank feels although he wants the Canelo clash next, a rematch with Saunders is also likely somewhere down the line.

"Saunders is ongoing. It is a fight that can, and probably will, happen again in the future," he added.

"Everybody knows we don't get along. We don't like each other. I want the fight. The only issue is that I'm at middleweight and he's at super-middleweight."
