Chelsea sign Swedish goalkeeper Zecira Musovic on two-and-a-half year deal
Chelsea have announced the signing of Swedish goalkeeper Zecira Musovic on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 24 year-old joins from Swedish side FC Rosengard in time for the second half of the WSL season.
She will take the No 1 shirt which was previously worn by fellow Swedish international Hedvig Lindahl.
Musovic, who will become a Blue on January 1, said of her signing: "It is a huge honour to be representing one of the biggest clubs in the world. The women´s game is developing fast, especially in England, and Chelsea is one of the top teams that are driving that process forward.
“I am always striving to be the best and therefore, I am happy to be joining one of the best. I cannot wait to continue my journey in London and hopefully help the club to reach even greater heights in the future.”
Musovic worked her way through the youth ranks for her country before making her senior debut in 2018.
She signed for FC Rosengard in 2012 and during her time there won four league titles and the Swedish Cup three times.
Chelsea boss Emma Hayes added: “Zecira is driven, hungry to be the best and also has international and Champions League experience. I have no doubt her best is yet to come and we really look forward to welcoming her into the team in the New Year.”
The Blues are currently second in the table behind Manchester United and take on Tottenham Hotspur on December 20 before the Christmas break.
