Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten targets ‘perfect’ first half of season ahead of Tottenham clash
Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten believes her side will have had a ‘perfect’ first half of the season if they can beat Tottenham in their final game of the year this weekend.
The Blues, who advanced through to the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday, have won six and drawn two of their eight Women’s Super League games so far in the 2020-21 campaign.
Three points off table toppers Manchester United with a game in hand, Emma Hayes’ side can extend their unbeaten run in the WSL to 30 games if they avoid a loss at home to Spurs on Sunday, a run which stretches back to January 2019.
And Reiten, who has been a stellar part of Chelsea’s recent form, is keen to end 2020 on a high.
"So far everything has been going great for us and we really want to get those three points, then it will be like a perfect first half of the season," she told the club website.
"I think it’s going to be a tough game because Tottenham are building but we know that if we play at our highest level we can beat anyone.
"It’s important that we get some rest and recovery in but we will be ready and prepared for the game on Sunday."
Tottenham went seven games without a win at the start of the WSL season, but have now picked up back-to-back victories over Brighton and Aston Villa.
Chelsea v Tottenham kicks off at 2pm on Sunday and you can keep up to date through our live blog on the NewsChain website.
