Chantelle Cameron once again challenges Katie Taylor to a fight if Amanda Serrano ducks scheduled August match
British boxer Chantelle Cameron has once again stated her desire to fight Katie Taylor.
Taylor is currently scheduled to take on Amanda Serrano in the US on August 22 but Cameron has said if Serrano does not fight she will happily step into the ring.
She tweeted: "There’s a mandatory challenger at two weights right here, waiting in England so no problems with travel or training.
“If Serrano don’t want the fight I’ll happily step up for August 22nd. Would be an honour to share the ring with @KatieTaylor @EddieHearn @MTKGlobal”
Cameron posted her tweet just 11 hours after Taylor called out Serrano to fight her and said she has ‘no more excuses’.
The Irish boxer wrote: "@Serranosisters . We both signed contracts, all financial barriers have been removed and any training/travel issues are the same for both of us as I'm also training in the US.
“No more excuses, this is a fight to elevate the sport. August 22 is our time to make history. You in?”
And Serrano replied to Taylor less than an hour later but did not confirm or deny whether she would take to the ring this summer.
She wrote: “Yes I signed 4 contracts to fight @KatieTaylor & despite what lies @EddieHearn wants to say he offered us a purse deduction & a change of location in addition to yet another date May 2nd, July 4th now August 22nd my team will handle this. I’m Not a Toy I’m DONE WITH THE GAMES!”
The pair were due to fight on May 2 on the undercard for Dillian Whyte v Alexander Povetkin at the Manchester Arena but this was postponed to August due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Back in October 2018, Taylor beat Serrano’s sister Cindy by unanimous decision to retain her WBA and IBF world titles.
