Judy Murray prepares to cook up a storm with return to reality TV on Celebrity Masterchef
Judy Murray captured the nation's hearts with her entertaining, enthusiastic and somewhat eclectic dancing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and will now return to our screens as she tries her hand in the kitchen on Celebrity Masterchef.
The 60 year-old mother of former World No 1 Andy and doubles maestro Jamie, wowed viewers as Anton Du Beke threw her around the strictly ballroom, but will have no partner to hide behind as she enters the heat of the kitchen.
Murray, who was hailed on the Strictly circuit for her homemade Scottish shortbread, will be hoping to win over Gregg Wallace and John Torode despite previously admitting 'I cannot cook!'
A Masterchef source said: “Producers thought it was a massive coup to bag Judy for the TV contest.
“Judy has a big fan base and a lot of older women respect her, so will tune in. She loved filming and bonded with the other contestants, making some unlikely friendships.
“The competition this year was tougher than ever with some hard challenges and intricate recipes, pushing the celebs harder than before.”
Speaking over the weekend, Judy said: “I am very competitive. That’s how I was brought up and I don’t see anything wrong with that.
There is no doubt the supermum, who has coached and raised two Wimbledon champions, will put her all into the competition.
She finished by adding: “Life is competitive. I just don’t have the time for elaborate recipes or looking after the house.”
