Hollywood stars have descended on the South of France for the Cannes Film Festival (running until May 27), renowned as the most glamorous in the world.

Attending red carpet premieres and photocalls, A-listers have been showing off their fashion credentials in showstopping gowns and dapper suits.

Here’s what some of the best-dressed attendees have been wearing so far…

Viola Davis

Viola Davis was a vision in white at the premiere of Japanese film Monster.

The Oscar-winning actor donned a one-shoulder Valentino gown with a huge feathered cape.

Gemma Chan

Also opting for an all-white look, Gemma Chan wore a custom Louis Vuitton outfit.

The British actor’s high-necked, sleeveless gown had a flowing textured skirt and cape detailing at the back.

Sara Sampaio

Portuguese supermodel Sara Sampaio donned an orange gown by Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad.

The chiffon dress with cut-out bodice details was edged with a feathered trim.

Adele Exarchopoulos

French actor Adele Exarchopoulos – who became the youngest person to win the Palme d’Or in 2013 – wore a Noughties-inspired look by Fendi.

The 29-year-old accessorised her ivory corset crop top and maxi skirt with a colourful jewelled necklace.

Ethan Hawke

There have also been a variety of exceptional menswear at Cannes.

Appearing at a photocall for gay cowboy short film Strange Way Of Life, Ethan Hawke chose a 1930s-style cream pinstripe suit with a navy striped shirt.

Pedro Almodovar

Joined by members of the Strange Way Of Life cast (with Pedro Pascal reportedly unable to attend due to a filming commitment), director Pedro Almodovar was on trend in a black varsity jacket and spotted shirt, jeans and Nike trainers.

John C Reilly

Having previously showed off some sharp sartorial looks at Cannes, John C Reilly returned with another stylish outfit.

Serving as president of the Un Certain Regard jury, the American actor and comedian appeared at a photocall in a classic navy suit and tie with a camel fedora.
