International Women's Day saw sports stars and organisations take to social media.

Here's a round-up of yesterday's highlights.

Arsenal shared a video featuring several familiar faces.

Players from the men's and women's teams were featured, alongside the likes of Ellen White, Jordan Nobbs and Nikita Parris.

Great Britain Hockey created a video highlighting equality within their sport.

In their tweet they said: "Same number of full-time athletes. Same facilities, same stadiums, same matchdays. Same pay at international level.

"50/50 participation split. We are proud to be a truly gender equal sport."

Pernille Harder, a footballer for VfL Wolfsburg, tweeted: "Just two girls fighting for the same thing. Both in life and football. Happy International Women’s Day"

Women's sport activist and tennis legend Billie Jean King shared a series of tweets.

She spent the day at the T20 Cricket World Cup final in Australia, celebrating with athletes and singer Katy Perry who performed at the event.

King wrote: "An incredible #IWD in Australia with a brilliant championing of women in sport @T20WorldCup final in front of an Australian record-breaking crowd of 86,174 people. Congratulations to the Aussies for taking the win, & to India for an excellent match."

She also congratulated Perry on her pregnancy with fiance Orlando Bloom. She added: "Loved spending time with @katyperry , who performed at the #T20WorldCupFinal. And congratulations on your wonderful news!"

England rugby captain Sarah Hunter shared a photo of herself in her Red Roses kit on Instagram.

She captioned the post: "I’m proud to be part of an era when women’s sport is taking huge leaps forward, here in England and internationally. 

"I’m supporting #IWD with @O2sports in honour of the incredible women who #WearTheRose for England with me, and all the young girls who are following their dreams. Don’t give up."

Boxing star Claressa Shields tweeted: "Happy international women’s day!!"

Team GB have shared a video highlighting the achievements of British Olympians past and present.

They captioned the video: "Today we’re celebrating the many inspirational female Olympians who have provided us with some iconic moments over the years. Happy International Women’s Day!"

Arsenal footballer Lia Walti tweeted: "It is International Women's Day! Today, and everyday, lets stand TOGETHER and fight for an equal world, a world without sexism and racism or any other form of discrimination. We can all chose to be #EachforEqual" 

Former Great British swimmer Jazz Carlin took the opportunity to encourage women to embrace who they are and being different.

She tweeted: "On International women’s day, I wanted to do a post for all the girls out there. Don’t be afraid to be different, embrace who you are, what you love and what you believe in"

Chelsea footballer Magdalena Eriksson tweeted: "Happy International Women’s Day. My dream is for everyone in the world to grow up with the same opportunities. 

"No one should ever be able to tell you that you can’t do it just because you are a girl."

The LTA also shared a video celebrating equality within their sport.

They tweeted: "This #IWD2020 we're celebrating how tennis has always been ahead of the game. And things are only just getting started…"

WWE's Rhea Ripley tweeted: "Happy #InternationalWomensDay! Everyone should be comfortable in their own skin!"
