Golden Globes 2022: Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger only celebrity attendees
Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger were the only celebrities who attended this year’s Golden Globes following controversy over organiser the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s diversity and practices.
The HFPA had previously announced that this year’s award would have no celebrity attendees, no red carpet, and would not be broadcast on TV.
However, Halloween actress Curtis, 63 and Terminator star Schwarzenegger, 74, both appeared via pre-recording video clips shown during the watered down ceremony in Los Angeles on January 9, in which they both praised the HFPA.
“I just wanted to honour and stand with them in this continued advocacy of great need and great support that the HFPA continues to serve and offer with their generosity,” Curtis said. “I am proud to be associated with them in this venture.”
While Schwarzenegger, in his own clip enthused: “They understand that to support the arts and creativity, one must cultivate new diverse voices from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. I was one of their beneficiaries.”
Celebrating the best in film and television, Western The Power Of The Dog, musical remake West Side Story and TV drama Succession were this year’s big winners.
